The Bee's Mouth, Hove

Situated at 10 Western Road, on the Brighton and Hove border, The Bee's Mouth is an independent pub, intimate live music venue and creative gathering place with a distinctive alternative character.

Known for its eclectic interior, relaxed bohemian atmosphere and extensive selection of Belgian and international beers, The Bee's Mouth has long been part of Brighton and Hove's grassroots music and arts scene.

Live music is central to the venue's identity, with performances ranging from acoustic singer-songwriters and jazz to alternative rock, experimental music and underground bands. Its intimate basement space provides a setting for gigs, DJ nights and creative events, bringing audiences close to the performers.

A particular highlight is the long-running Wednesday Open Mic, hosted by JJ Symon, offering musicians and songwriters the opportunity to perform, experiment and share their music in a welcoming environment. The venue also hosts other open mic events, including sessions supporting women and non-binary performers.

Beyond live music, The Bee's Mouth has a history of film screenings, life drawing, poetry and other creative activities, making it much more than a conventional pub.

With its colourful exterior, distinctive blue neon sign and lively atmosphere, The Bee's Mouth remains a characterful home for independent music, artistic expression and Brighton's creative community.

The Wednesday open mic is currently advertised for 9:30pm, with sign-ups from approximately 8:30pm. The Sound Sister Collective also advertises a monthly Sunday open mic in the basement.
